About the role
You will own the design and implementation of growth-focused web experiences and systems that directly influence how potential customers discover and adopt Buffer. You will architect and maintain the technical foundation for conversion funnels, ensuring they are robust, measurable, and aligned with business objectives. This role involves deep collaboration with marketing and design to translate strategic initiatives into production-grade features. You will be responsible for extending Buffer's infrastructure to support international audiences through localization frameworks and global performance standards. You will build and refine critical systems such as referral program logic and multi-touch attribution models to optimize customer acquisition. The position requires you to take ownership of the reliability and accuracy of tracking infrastructure, ensuring data integrity across the entire marketing stack. You will shape the long-term capabilities of the marketing platform by creating reusable systems and patterns that accelerate future work. Ultimately, you will play a key role in helping Buffer reach its mission of empowering the next 200,000 creators and small teams.

What you'll do
- Architect and deliver end-to-end growth engineering solutions, including localization frameworks, referral program logic, attribution systems, and the rebuilding of tracking infrastructure for enhanced accuracy and reliability.
- Develop high-converting landing pages and interactive tools on buffer.com, creating experiences that educate and convert visitors before they sign up for Buffer.
- Design and implement A/B testing infrastructure and experimentation frameworks that enable data-driven decisions across the marketing team.
- Build programmatic page generation systems to support SEO and AEO strategies, ensuring content is discoverable and performs well in search environments.
- Create reusable content management patterns and integrations with marketing tools to streamline how campaigns are built, launched, and iterated.
- Own the technical implementation of conversion flows, optimizing funnel performance through rapid iteration and data-informed improvements.
- Partner with designers and marketers to translate concepts into responsive, accessible, and performant web experiences that uphold Buffer's brand standards.
- Debug and maintain tracking pipelines and analytics setups, ensuring data quality and consistency for all marketing activities.
- Contribute to the development of utility content and benchmarks that provide immediate value to users and support early-stage brand building.
- Define and maintain engineering best practices for the growth stack, enabling scalability, reliability, and faster time-to-market for new initiatives.
Requirements
You must have a strong background in modern frontend development, with expert-level proficiency in React and related ecosystems for building complex user interfaces. You need to be comfortable working across the full scope of frontend technologies while also possessing the ability to implement backend logic and integrate third-party APIs effectively. Experience debugging tracking pipelines and analytics setups is essential to ensure accurate data collection and reporting. You must be able to work independently and collaboratively, navigating ambiguity while maintaining a pace that supports rapid iteration and learning. A commitment to craft and attention to UX detail is required, even while shipping features quickly and maintaining high standards. You should be comfortable reading and interpreting technical documentation for unfamiliar systems and figuring out solutions when the path is not immediately clear. You must be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including marketers, designers, and other engineers, to align on goals and execution. You need to be located in a time zone that allows for synchronous collaboration during Buffer's core working hours, with a commitment to occasional in-person retreats.

Practical notes
You must be available for occasional in-person retreats, with travel expected once or twice per year to strengthen team connections. The role is fully remote, and successful candidates must be able to work from any location where Buffer supports remote employment. Employment is full-time, and the position requires adherence to Buffer's working hours to enable collaboration across distributed teams. You must be able to commit to the onboarding and training processes required to integrate successfully with the Buffer team.
