What you'll do
- Develop and implement comprehensive energy management plans that focus on reducing energy consumption and enhancing operational efficiency across various facilities in the Niagara Region.
- Conduct detailed energy audits to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend actionable solutions that align with best practices in energy management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and sustainability, to ensure energy initiatives are integrated into overall business strategies.
- Monitor and analyze energy usage data to track performance metrics and identify trends, providing regular reports to stakeholders on energy savings and project outcomes.
- Lead training sessions and workshops to educate staff on energy conservation practices and the importance of sustainable energy use.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors to ensure successful execution of energy projects and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to energy management and sustainability, ensuring that Blackstoneenergy remains at the forefront of energy innovation.
- Prepare and present proposals for energy efficiency projects, including cost-benefit analyses and return on investment calculations, to secure funding and support from management.
- Participate in local and regional energy initiatives, representing Blackstoneenergy in community forums and industry conferences to promote energy efficiency and sustainability.
- Develop and maintain a database of energy performance metrics to support continuous improvement efforts and benchmarking against industry standards.
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals to secure financial support for energy efficiency projects.
- Foster a culture of sustainability within the organization by engaging employees and stakeholders in energy-saving initiatives and promoting awareness of environmental impacts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in energy management, sustainability, or a related area, preferably within the industrial or commercial sectors.
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency technologies, renewable energy systems, and energy management best practices.
- Proven experience in conducting energy audits and implementing energy-saving measures.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in energy management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards related to energy management and sustainability.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Niagara Region as required.
Nice to have
- Certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar credential is highly desirable.
- Experience with renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, or geothermal systems.
- Familiarity with building automation systems and energy monitoring technologies.
- Previous experience in grant writing or securing funding for energy projects.
- Knowledge of LEED certification processes and sustainable building practices.
