About the role
Bird is looking for a City Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations in the Kansas City market. This role oversees the deployment, maintenance, and performance of electric scooters across the city. The manager will coordinate with local teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery for riders throughout the metro area. You will be responsible for scaling operations, managing frontline staff, and maintaining fleet reliability throughout the assigned territory. The position plays a critical part in ensuring that Bird's shared electric scooter service remains available, safe, and well-maintained for the Kansas City community. The City Operations Manager will also serve as the primary point of contact for local government representatives and community stakeholders regarding Bird's presence in Kansas City.

What you'll do
- Oversee the daily deployment and retrieval of electric scooters across the Kansas City service area.
- Monitor fleet health and coordinate repair logistics to minimize downtime for riders using the service.
- Manage a team of operations staff including chargers, technicians, and ground personnel assigned to the territory.
- Develop and execute plans to expand service coverage into new neighborhoods and underserved areas of the city.

Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing field operations or a logistics team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of urban mobility or shared transportation business models and their operational demands.
- Ability to manage a team of at least ten frontline workers across multiple service zones.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet tools and data analysis for making informed operational decisions on a daily basis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and visit multiple sites throughout each workday.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable personal transportation for site visits.
- Comfortable with shift work including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as operational needs require.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision in a fast-moving operational environment.
