Full-stack Engineer
Job description
About the role
Bio is a decentralized science protocol engineered to launch and scale AI-driven biotechnology research. The platform empowers scientists to raise capital, generate value from their discoveries, and distribute that value directly to their communities. Since 2023, Bio has channeled over $50 million toward global researchers, presenting an alternative to traditional pharmaceutical funding models. Backed by investors such as Binance Labs, Northpond Ventures, and Animoca Brands, Bio accelerates the development of real-world therapeutics across longevity, brain health, fertility, psychedelic science, and other fields. In this role, you will own the complete lifecycle of scientific platforms, translating complex stakeholder requirements into robust, auditable products. You will architect and implement the full stack, ensuring that user interfaces, backend services, and smart contracts operate seamlessly to serve researchers and the broader scientific community. Your contributions will directly influence how capital flows into science and how discoveries are commercialized for the public good.
Key facts
What you'll do
You will design intake flows that gather researcher requirements, validate data formats, and prepare datasets for reliable processing. Your work will architect services and storage models that keep research pipelines performant, secure, and aligned with community standards. You will implement interface components that help scientists explore projects, understand outcomes, and provide structured feedback through clear, responsive interactions. You will establish verification routines for web3 operations, ensuring contract interactions remain transparent, traceable, and reproducible across different environments. You will coordinate with interface creators and strategy partners to deliver features that meet scientific needs while respecting strict timelines and delivery commitments. Your role will guide architectural decisions that allow teams to iterate quickly while maintaining strict compliance, auditability, and data integrity. You will support community governance tools that distribute influence and align project direction with contributor input through transparent mechanisms. Additionally, you will maintain deployment pipelines that promote stable releases, reduce operational risk, and simplify rollback when necessary to protect research continuity.
Requirements
You must have built user-facing applications, demonstrating how you manage state, routing, and server interactions in production scenarios. You should handle simultaneous frontend and backend tasks, moving smoothly across interfaces, services, and data layers without losing context. A record of solving difficult production issues while balancing speed, clarity, and operational stability is essential for success in this position. You must communicate precisely in writing, thriving in remote settings where documentation and asynchronous discussion guide every major decision. You will show interest in web3, biotech, or open science methods, even if direct experience in these specific areas is limited or emerging. You must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to prioritize effectively when scientific requirements evolve alongside platform constraints. You should demonstrate ownership of code quality, testing practices, and maintainability across the full stack. You must be willing to collaborate closely with scientists, strategists, and community members to ensure that technical solutions reflect real-world needs.
Nice to have
You bring blockchain or smart contract work to the table, with an understanding of how decentralized systems influence scientific workflows. A background in science, research, or working with scientific data is valuable and helps bridge technical and domain-specific discussions. Contributions to open source projects are also considered a strong asset, indicating a commitment to collaborative development and knowledge sharing.
Practical notes
This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere without mandatory office presence. The engagement is full-time, requiring consistent availability during overlapping business hours to support global research initiatives. Compensation for this role is specified as $130,000 to $180,000 USD for 2024, inclusive of potential token and equity components as outlined in the official offer. Please Why Bio
Bio offers a fully remote environment where you can work from anywhere while engaging with meaningful work at the frontier of science and technology. The team is small, but the impact is significant, ensuring that your work directly influences therapeutic development and scientific discovery. Compensation includes a competitive package with a token and equity component, aligning your long-term interests with the growth of the platform. You will join a community of builders who are reimagining how science is funded, governed, and scaled through decentralized infrastructure. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to open science methods and explore how decentralized protocols can reshape traditional research pipelines. Your contributions will help determine how scientists interact with funders and how value is distributed across global communities. The environment encourages deep collaboration, clear documentation, and continuous learning as you work on complex problems at the intersection of biology and software.
