What you'll do
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to VP and C-level leaders across R&D and G&A, guiding resource allocation and investment decisions with precision and strategic foresight.
Lead monthly forecast reviews, translating performance data into actionable insights and priority recommendations that drive measurable business outcomes.
Anticipate business needs by monitoring organizational shifts and market dynamics, proactively surfacing financial implications and highlighting emerging risks or opportunities.
Own end-to-end financial planning, including forecasting, budgeting, multi-year planning, and budget-vs-actuals analysis, delivering clear variance insights that inform strategic choices.
Drive disciplined expense planning to ensure investments align with strategic priorities and deliver measurable ROI, optimizing spend across the business.
Build advanced financial models incorporating scenario, sensitivity, and probabilistic analysis to support complex decisions and validate strategic hypotheses.
Partner cross-functionally to align on metrics, definitions, and reporting, maintaining consistent KPI frameworks such as LTV/CAC, Rule of 40, and unit economics.
Design executive dashboards and translate complex data into clear narratives for both financial and non-financial audiences, enhancing organizational understanding.
Challenge assumptions in business cases to ensure decisions are grounded in realistic projections and sound financial logic, fostering a culture of rigor.
Build scalable FP&A processes and systems, leveraging automation, AI, and standardized methodologies to improve accuracy, reduce manual work, and enable self-service analytics.
Requirements
Bring 5+ years of FP&A experience in high-growth SaaS or technology companies, demonstrating a consistent track record in dynamic environments.
Show direct partnership with VP and C-level executives on strategic planning and decision-making, influencing at the highest organizational levels.
Possess advanced financial modeling and analytical skills with Excel and Google Sheets, constructing sophisticated models to support business initiatives.
Demonstrate experience with FP&A systems such as Abacum, Anaplan, or Adaptive, alongside robust BI tools like Looker to drive insights.
Have a deep understanding of SaaS metrics including LTV/CAC, the Rule of 40, and unit economics, applying them to evaluate performance.
Exhibit experience navigating business model transitions, such as evolving from a single product to a platform or multi-product strategy.
Possess IPO readiness or pre-IPO experience, including building financial rigor and investor-grade processes that withstand public markets.
Show experience helping companies shift from growth to profitability, including margin expansion initiatives and path-to-profitability modeling.
Apply a consultative approach with structured problem-solving and executive communication skills to drive alignment and execution.
Highlight experience implementing AI and automation in financial processes or analytics to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Maintain a track record of building scalable financial processes and frameworks that adapt as the organization grows rapidly.
Operate with a bias for action and ownership, thriving in ambiguity while delivering results under pressure and changing conditions.
Practical notes
BetterUp is a hybrid company that values in-person collaboration. Employees are expected to be available to work from one of our office hubs at least two days per week, or eight days per month.
