Staff Product Manager
Job description
About the role
This role sits at the volatile intersection where enterprise software meets profound human change, and you will own the messy, meaningful work in between. You will architect the product surface that allows BetterUp's Human Transformation Platform to scale without losing its soul, translating ambiguous human needs into clear product hypotheses. You will act as the decisive owner of your product area, moving from abstract vision to concrete shipped outcomes with speed and integrity. Expect to spend your days in direct dialogue with customers and your nights iterating on the artifacts of those conversations into working prototypes. You will build bridges between data, design, and engineering, ensuring every experiment either teaches you something new or moves a metric. This is not a ceremonial position; it is a builder role for those who crave ownership in an environment that moves at the speed of meaning. If you thrive when the problems are human and the stakes are high, this is the arena where you will leave your mark.
Key facts
What you'll do
Translate ambiguous human transformation challenges into clear product hypotheses that guide your squad's experiments.
Own the end-to-end delivery of your product area, from discovery through execution, ensuring outcomes are met and learning is captured.
Develop and maintain a strong product point of view by synthesizing customer signals, market trends, and platform constraints into a coherent roadmap.
Partner deeply with engineering and design to define technical scope, surface trade-offs, and make timely decisions that keep momentum.
Build genuine relationships with enterprise customers and internal admin users, using qualitative and quantitative feedback to shape the product surface.
Prototype high-fidelity interactions using AI-assisted tools to validate concepts quickly before committing engineering capacity.
Define and own the success metrics for your product surface, aligning indicators to business value and human outcomes.
Operate with relentless agency, making decisions with imperfect information and pivoting fast when experiments fail or reveal new insight.
Ensure your product work enhances the broader BetterUp platform by contributing to shared capabilities and interoperable data models.
Champion a culture of experimentation where hypotheses are tested, dead ends are documented, and learnings are shared openly.
Balance the urgency of shipping with the patience required to build durable, maintainable product foundations.
Represent the voice of the customer and the user inside the squad, maintaining empathy even as complexity grows.
Work within an agile delivery rhythm, participating actively in planning, review, and retros to drive continuous improvement.
Surface risks early and collaborate cross-functionally to mitigate them before they impact customers or business results.
Requirements
You must have 5 or more years of product management experience, with a track record of owning outcomes rather than merely shipping features.
You must have direct experience building platform or configuration-driven products in B2B enterprise environments, such as policy engines or workflow systems.
You must have spent meaningful time in enterprise customer environments, engaging with buyers and admin users to uncover problems and validate solutions.
You must bring domain expertise in organizational transformation, human transformation, or talent intelligence, or be a fast learner in this space.
You must demonstrate relentless agency, taking ownership of problems and solutions without waiting for explicit direction or permission.
You must possess strong executive communication skills, able to articulate product vision, trade-offs, and learnings to leaders at any level.
You must be capable of developing product vision and strategic thinking, articulating where your product should go and why.
You must have systems thinking and technical curiosity, comfortable collaborating with engineering on data models and architecture decisions.
You must be comfortable working cross-functionally, aligning with peers and partners to ensure your product enhances the broader platform.
You must be willing to work from one of our office hubs at least two days per week, or eight days per month, as this role requires in-person collaboration.
Nice to have
Experience with organizational behavior, change management, or talent development methodologies.
