About the role
You will own the design and execution of commercial strategy for UK and European markets while actively supporting the expansion of our US presence. In this capacity, you will translate cutting edge AI research into concrete business value for enterprise customers across regulated and high impact sectors. You will act as the primary commercial interface for partnerships that span venture capital, cloud infrastructure providers, and large scale system integrators. You will discover new vertical applications and define the narratives that connect mathematical principles of intelligence to organizational outcomes. You will structure and negotiate complex arrangements that align incentives between research teams and institutional buyers. You will operate with significant autonomy, navigating ambiguity to identify and prioritize opportunities that advance both market traction and the mission of the organization. You will continuously communicate market feedback to ensure that our research agenda remains grounded in real world problem solving.

What you'll do
Discover and develop new commercial opportunities across industries and geographies, with primary focus on building UK/EU pipeline and supporting US market expansion.
Conduct in depth customer discovery conversations to understand domain challenges, validate problem solution fit, and translate needs into technical requirements that inform Basis research directions.
Structure and negotiate partnerships including design partnerships, cloud provider collaborations, system integrator relationships, and academic or corporate research agreements.
Develop compelling commercial materials such as proposals, case studies, and pitch decks that articulate Basis capabilities and differentiation in clear business terms.
Convert pipeline into revenue by managing the full sales cycle from initial contact through contract closure, coordinating with legal, finance, and technical teams.
Build localized presence and relationships in UK and EU markets, identifying needs for international entity setup and operational infrastructure.
Identify and flag operational needs arising from commercial activity, including compliance, delivery capacity, and resource constraints.
Collaborate with Systems Engineers to ensure commercial opportunities align with technical capabilities and research directions, preventing overpromising while maximizing impact.
Contribute to organizational culture and strategic direction, bringing market intelligence that shapes the product roadmap, research priorities, and growth initiatives.
Engage with prospective ecosystem partners, mapping how Basis technologies can integrate with existing workflows and long term innovation strategies.
Analyze competitive dynamics and pricing models to position Basis offerings within evolving market structures across multiple regions.
Champion the translation of mathematical research insights into narratives that resonate with executive stakeholders and technical evaluators alike.
Monitor adoption patterns and usage signals to refine commercial approaches and support ongoing product market fit efforts.
Represent Basis in policy and industry forums, ensuring that regulatory considerations such as the EU AI Act are reflected in strategic decisions.
Requirements
You have founded or operated in early stage ventures, with evidence of building and converting commercial pipelines in technical domains.
You possess sufficient technical depth to engage credibly with AI researchers and enterprise customers, understanding machine learning concepts and probabilistic programming well enough to articulate value.
You bring international market development experience, particularly focused on UK and EU territories, including familiarity with regional business culture and regulatory environments.
You excel at relationship building with diverse stakeholders such as venture capitalists, cloud partners, system integrators, academic institutions, and government agencies.
You have direct experience with complex deal structuring, including negotiation of partnerships, research collaborations, contracts, and proposal development for sophisticated technical offerings.
You are capable of progressing with a high degree of autonomy, identifying opportunities, designing approaches, and executing under uncertainty without extensive direction.
You are excited by the mission of advancing societal capability to solve intractable problems through rigorous, safe, and human centered AI research.
You are able to work full time from the London office, adhering to an in office schedule four days per week as defined by current policy.
