The company is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to own the critical intersection between product development and external partner ecosystems by solving complex operational challenges through purpose built software solutions. In this capacity, the hire will act as the primary technical liaison, working hand in hand with third party administrators, payroll processors, and record keepers to ensure seamless integration and high reliability. The role requires a balance of deep technical execution and high level communication, translating ambiguous business problems into robust, scalable software and AI driven tools. You will be responsible for designing solutions that not only meet immediate operational needs but also align with the long term architecture of the financial stack. What you'll do
- Partner with third-party administrators, payroll processors, and record keepers to map current workflows, uncover operational bottlenecks, and implement integrations that streamline execution.
- Architect and deliver full stack software solutions, including backend services and frontend interfaces, leveraging AI driven tools to automate manual steps and improve accuracy.
- Serve as the primary technical communicator, articulating requirements and product strategy to a diverse audience that spans from individual developers to C level executives.
- Conduct detailed discovery sessions with external partners to translate business objectives into concrete technical specifications and success metrics.
- Build and maintain resilient integration layers that connect disparate systems, ensuring data consistency, security, and compliance with industry standards.
- Monitor production systems in collaboration with operations teams, identifying performance issues and driving iterative improvements based on real world feedback.
- Prototype minimum viable products rapidly to validate hypotheses, using iterative development cycles to refine solutions before large scale rollout.
- Document technical designs, integration patterns, and operational procedures to enable knowledge transfer and long term maintainability.
- Collaborate with internal product and engineering teams to prioritize features that deliver the highest impact for partner ecosystems and end beneficiaries.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies, assessing their applicability to financial workflows and retirement specific use cases.
- Lead proof of concept efforts for artificial intelligence tools that enhance data processing, anomaly detection, and decision support for partners.
- Coordinate cross functional working sessions, aligning engineering, product, and business stakeholders to ensure clarity of goals and execution.
- Track project milestones and risks proactively, communicating status updates and dependency resolution to maintain momentum.
- Contribute to the evolution of the company's technical roadmap by providing feedback from the field on scalability, maintainability, and user experience.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in solutions engineering or forward deployed engineering roles with a track record of delivering technical solutions to external partners.
- Demonstrate proven ability to build across the full software stack, moving comfortably between backend services, data layers, and user facing interfaces.
- Show proficiency in at least one of the following languages Kotlin, Rust, Java, Go, C/C++, Python, Ruby, or TypeScript, with a portfolio of shipped projects to support your claims.
- Have professional experience working with React, building interactive interfaces that integrate with backend APIs and third party libraries.
- Exhibit strong problem solving skills, using analytical reasoning to diagnose complex issues and design effective solutions under time constraints.
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats, capable of explaining technical concepts to non technical stakeholders without losing precision.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment, working asynchronously and synchronously with distributed teams who rely on timely and accurate information.
- Maintain a high degree of ownership, ensuring that commitments are met and that you follow through on technical responsibilities through completion.
