About the role
Base is building a new kind of electricity infrastructure for the United States, centered on a large-scale network of distributed battery systems that replace the traditional centralized grid with something more resilient and abundant. Their cross-disciplinary team of technical and creative professionals tackles some of the most complex interdisciplinary challenges in modern energy systems. They are looking for an Electrical Engineer who can take ownership of energy storage products from the earliest design stages all the way through to manufacturing and real-world deployment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience bringing complex electrical systems from concept to production and knows how to diagnose and resolve issues at both the circuit board and full system levels, often working across high voltage domains.

What you'll do
Own the complete design lifecycle of energy storage products including inverters, batteries, and the microgrid interconnect device.
Write technical specifications, define system architecture, create schematics, and lay out printed circuit boards using industry-standard tools.
Bring up new boards by debugging hardware, performing soldering and wiring tasks, and assembling mechanical components for initial testing.
Plan and carry out validation tests that exercise high voltage and high current conditions across inverter and battery designs.
Validate battery management system designs to confirm they meet performance and safety requirements before production release.
Work closely with mechanical engineers, firmware developers, test specialists, and reliability experts to move products into high volume manufacturing.
Diagnose difficult problems that arise from interactions between multiple electronic components operating together in a complete system.
Oversee reliability testing and functional testing procedures to ensure products meet quality standards for field deployment.
Apply knowledge of power semiconductor devices such as MOSFETs and IGBTs when designing and evaluating power conversion circuits.
Contribute to thermal management strategies and consider mechanical design factors when developing electrical system layouts for production-ready hardware.
Requirements
Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or have equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrate proficiency in both digital and analog circuit design, with particular focus on high voltage circuits or power supply topologies.
Have hands-on experience with printed circuit board design using Altium and be comfortable with initial board bring-up activities.
Understand embedded firmware concepts, microcontroller architectures, and their peripheral interfaces, along with scripting in Python or comparable languages.
Be experienced using laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, function generators, and programmable power supplies for validating hardware.
Have working knowledge of power semiconductor components including MOSFETs and IGBTs in practical circuit designs.
Possess familiarity with electric motor principles, thermal design considerations, and basic mechanical design practices.
Understand automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet bus systems.
Grasp fundamental control theory concepts such as sensor bandwidth limitations and signal filtering techniques.
Nice to have
Prior experience designing and validating systems for automotive or industrial applications where reliability is critical.
Familiarity with microgrid architectures and how distributed energy resources integrate into larger electrical networks.
Exposure to high volume manufacturing processes and the challenges of scaling hardware from prototypes to production units.
Background in mechanical engineering or mechatronics that complements deep electrical design expertise.
