Senior Software Engineer

About the role

You will design, build, and maintain core components of our platform that streamline the private investment experience. This role is critical for directly impacting the user experience and helping our team scale to meet growing demand for our product. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end user-facing features. Your work will involve driving architectural decisions and leading key engineering projects from ideation through launch. You will write clean, maintainable code with a focus on performance, security, and scalability at all times. Additionally, you will mentor teammates and help shape the engineering culture as the team continues to grow and evolve.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable software systems that streamline the private investment experience for our clients.
• Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to deliver user-facing features end to end with precision and care.
• Drive architectural decisions and lead key engineering projects from ideation through successful launch in production.

• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

• Ensure software reliability and scalability through thoughtful design, testing, and continuous improvement.
• Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards across the engineering organization.
• Explore and evaluate new technologies to improve our product and engineering efficiency over time.
• Troubleshoot production issues methodically and work with the team to resolve them effectively.
• Contribute to documentation and best practices that support sustainable engineering workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building web-based software products in a professional capacity.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and demonstrated experience designing scalable systems that perform under load.
• Full-stack development experience, or deep expertise in either frontend or backend engineering disciplines.
• A track record of driving projects independently in a fast-moving, dynamic environment without constant supervision.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working across technical and non-technical teams.
• Comfort working onsite in a collaborative office environment in New York City on a daily basis.
• Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels and explain technical concepts clearly.
• Commitment to writing high-quality code and participating actively in team code reviews and discussions.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes as the product evolves quickly.
• Reliability and ownership in delivering results while maintaining a high standard of work quality.
• Alignment with company values and dedication to supporting teammates within a growing team culture.
• Experience working with financial data, reporting, or investment-related systems is strongly preferred.
• Understanding of the constraints and considerations involved in building fintech or investment platforms.

Nice to have

• Prior experience at a fast-growing startup or on a founding engineering team where scope was ambiguous.
• Exposure to building internal tools or infrastructure that measurably improved engineering efficiency.
• Experience in the fintech space or working on investment platforms that serve institutional or retail investors.
• Background working with regulated financial data and attention to compliance and security best practices.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and robust backend service design.
• Experience contributing to open source or technical communities outside of your primary role.

Being onsite daily enables us to build strong connections, move quickly, and deliver exceptional service to our clients. For select roles, we are also open to candidates based in Boston. If a role is open to Boston, it will be listed explicitly in the job location.
