This role serves as a technical leader and force multiplier across the engineering organization at Arch. You will own complex, high-impact systems that define the foundation of our platform and enable the company to scale for a rapidly growing client base. The position demands hands-on leadership through deep involvement in architecture, implementation, and cross-team collaboration. You will shape technical direction while mentoring engineers and elevating the overall quality of the codebase. Your work will directly influence how investors manage private investments and make more informed financial decisions. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant scope and responsibility.

What you'll do
- Architect and drive complex, cross-functional technical initiatives from conception to production, with a focus on scalability and long-term maintainability.
- Set technical direction for core platform systems, making informed trade-offs to ensure performance, security, and reliability at scale.
- Partner with product, design, and data teams to define and deliver high-impact features end to end, influencing roadmap decisions with technical insight.
- Mentor and level up engineers across the team through code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on technical guidance.
- Identify and resolve systemic engineering challenges, including technical debt, infrastructure gaps, and cross-team bottlenecks that impact velocity.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into well-defined technical solutions that align with product strategy and client needs.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve developer experience, system resilience, and operational efficiency.
- Own critical production services and ensure robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices are in place.
- Collaborate closely with data and analytics teams to validate product outcomes and drive data-informed improvements.
- Contribute to hiring and interview processes by providing technical assessment and realistic role expectations.
- Lead design reviews and documentation to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity across the engineering organization.
- Break down large initiatives into manageable deliverables that coordinate dependencies across multiple teams.
- Champion best practices in testing, observability, and deployment to maintain high standards of quality.
- Work with security and compliance stakeholders to ensure that platform changes meet regulatory requirements.
- Act as a point of contact for key platform decisions and cross-team escalations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and scaling web-based software products.
- A track record of owning and delivering complex technical projects with measurable cross-team impact.
- Deep expertise in full-stack development, distributed systems, or large-scale backend architecture.
- Experience influencing technical direction and driving alignment across teams without formal authority.
- Excellent communication skills - you can articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong ownership mindset and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Proven ability to write clean, maintainable code and review code from other engineers constructively.
Nice to have
- Experience in the fintech space or working on investment platforms.
- Prior experience as a founding or early-stage engineer at a fast-growing startup.
- Background in building developer tooling, internal platforms, or infrastructure to improve engineering efficiency at scale.

Being onsite daily enables us to build strong connections, move quickly, and deliver exceptional service to our clients. For select roles, we are also open to candidates based in Boston.
