About the Role
The Vice President Business Development owns client relationships across Asia, guiding banks and institutions on AQR strategies while helping to shape the firm's long-term direction. This individual acts as a critical translator, converting complex research into clear and compelling narratives for distribution partners. The role requires balancing rigorous theoretical debate with disciplined execution to serve investor needs effectively.
The successful candidate will champion new opportunities within wealth managers and private banks, mapping detailed pathways for AQR's strategies across Asian markets. They will shape dialogue with distribution partners, articulating performance narratives and portfolio intent with precise and confident language. This involves forging deep expertise in AQR's investment strategies to translate complex concepts into clear guidance for diverse audiences.
A key responsibility involves designing consultative discussions for existing clients. This aligns product offerings with broader allocation goals while advancing client retention and relationship expansion. The role also guides new product thinking, collaborating with research and portfolio teams to define practical business development pathways.
Monitoring industry movements forms another core duty. The Vice President must activate internal insights to keep investors current and engaged with AQR's evolving capabilities. Post-sale engagement is also critical; the role orchestrates service interactions to ensure commitments are upheld, strengthening trust and long-term partnerships. Compensation and Location
The position is based in Hong Kong, China, and operates on a full-time basis. The compensation for this role is USD 250,000 per year.
Requirements
The candidate must hold at least seven years of experience within private banking or investment management. This experience should include navigating institutional complexity and managing sophisticated client needs. A Bachelor's background in economics, finance, or related fields is required, with advanced study considered an advantage.
A proven track record of building networks within the wealth management and private banking ecosystems is essential. The candidate must have a history of raising capital and driving results across Asian channels. This includes demonstrating excellence in client retention, relationship growth, and high-quality post-sale client servicing.
Experience working with a diverse suite of products is mandatory. This includes equities and liquid alternatives, such as hedge funds. The candidate should possess a technical grounding in investment strategies and portfolio construction. They must be able to communicate complex concepts clearly and turn strategy and construction into actionable insights.
A disciplined, process-oriented approach to pipeline management and strong commercial acumen are required. The candidate must be a team-oriented professional with a collaborative mindset. They should demonstrate a proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
Nice to Have
Experience working with family offices and sovereign investors who allocate capital through private structures is considered a valuable addition.
