Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life. Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond. You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better. This role is the embodiment of the feedback loop between the people servicing our robots and the people designing them, making it one of the most leverage-creating roles in GSS. You will be a technical expert embedded at the point of development who turns operational data into engineering signal, shaping how humanoid robots are built and supported at scale. This is a proving ground for engineers and senior technicians who want to own the hardest problems in NPI and development robotics.

What you'll do
You own robot uptime for Apptronik's NPI and Development fleet, acting as the primary service owner for all NPI and Dev-designated robots and triaging issues without established procedures on constantly changing hardware. You close the feedback loop by documenting every significant repair with root cause, time-to-diagnose, time-to-repair, parts consumed, and failure mode, turning repair notes into actionable engineering signals. You shape how we build for serviceability by participating in Design for Serviceability reviews as the hands-on voice of the technician, offering opinions on connector placement, Field Replaceable Unit logic, tool clearance, and access paths. You validate new service procedures and repair approaches for NPI configurations by proving they work alongside the Apptronik Service Tech team, drafting, testing, and refining work instructions before fleet or customer deployment. You embed with NPI programs as the GSS representative, attending reviews to understand design intent, known issues, and upcoming changes, tracking open service issues and driving them to closure. You build service readiness at program milestones by ensuring tooling, spares, procedures, and training materials are in place before any configuration deploys into the field. You turn operational data from the production fleet into engineering improvements, identifying recurring patterns and surfacing them proactively to engineering teams. You are equally comfortable torquing down a joint and sitting in a design review to inform engineers what must be improved in the next iteration. You serve as the critical bridge between the bench and the blueprint, ensuring lessons learned from every failure inform the next generation of the robotics solution. You operate at the intersection of technical execution and program ownership, making decisions that directly affect how humanoid robots are supported and scaled.
Requirements
You have 3-6+ years of hands-on experience with complex electromechanical systems, with experience in robotics, aerospace, medical devices, or defense hardware preferred. You possess a strong hardware diagnostic skillset and are comfortable working with limited documentation on hardware that is in a constant state of change during NPI. You can independently triage, diagnose, and resolve issues without established procedures, often relying on first principles and systematic troubleshooting. You communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, producing clear, actionable repair documentation that engineers can act on and participating actively in design reviews. You collaborate closely with engineering and program teams, attending reviews, tracking open issues, and driving resolutions to closure across the product lifecycle. You are comfortable working on pre-production and development robots that lack a playbook, navigating ambiguity while maintaining ownership of uptime and service outcomes. You understand the importance of Design for Serviceability and can provide practical, technician-level input on physical access, modularity, and maintainability. You are meticulous about documenting failure modes, root causes, and corrective actions to create a durable feedback loop for continuous improvement.
