You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better. You will own the end-to-end physical integration of Apollo, owning the plan for how subsystems become a unified robot. You will de-risk electromechanical designs through targeted prototyping and experimentation. You will translate design intent into reliable physical assemblies that meet system-level performance goals. You will lead the development and execution of integration test strategies that validate hardware behavior before flight. You will ensure all physical components are fully characterized and documented for downstream teams. You will mentor engineers and technicians to maintain high standards in assembly and integration practices.

What you'll do
- Build and lead a specialized team of hardware engineers and technicians focused on the physical integration and assembly of Apollo.
- Lead rapid prototyping initiatives to validate novel hardware concepts before committing to full-scale platform integration.
- Design and execute targeted derisking experiments for critical electromechanical subsystems to identify and mitigate interface, thermal, or kinematic risks early.
- Direct prototype hardware integration, guiding the team through physical assembly, initial power-on, and transition from bench to platform.
- Develop and release calibration schemes that align the robot's physical assembly with its digital and control models.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical design teams to ensure sub-assemblies are optimized for modularity, ease of integration, and long-term reliability.
- Design and build hardware-in-the-loop testbeds to enable rapid iteration and support integration and future testing activities.
- Serve as the primary owner for hardware configuration, including revision control and maintenance of accurate Top-Level System Bills of Materials.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication to resolve integration challenges across diverse engineering disciplines.
- Define and drive the execution of integration test plans that validate system behavior under real-world conditions.
- Establish documentation standards that capture integration procedures, lessons learned, and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with manufacturing and operations to ensure designs are scalable and robust for production environments.
- Track integration metrics to identify trends, inform trade studies, and guide design improvements.
- Represent hardware integration on cross-functional working groups to align priorities and dependencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 2+ years in a direct management or technical lead role, with a proven track record of mentoring multi-disciplinary teams.
- 6+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience, specifically focused on complex robotic systems.
- Deep, hands-on experience with rapid prototyping techniques, building proof-of-concept mockups, and developing empirical test plans.
- Direct experience managing complex Bills of Materials and hardware versioning within a fast-paced R&D or production environment.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot interface issues between mechanical, electrical, and firmware layers during integration.
- Exceptional leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate across diverse engineering departments.
- Experience with kinematic and dynamic calibration methods for robotic systems.
- Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop testbed design and implementation.
- Demonstrated ownership of configuration management processes and documentation practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proven experience derisking electromechanical designs through experimentation and prototyping.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, iterative development environment with evolving requirements.

- Experience with high-performance actuators and sensor suites in robotic platforms.
- Background in manufacturing for robotics or related high-volume assembly processes.
- Familiarity with safety and compliance considerations for commercial robotic systems.
