Platform Stewardship Role in Prague
This position centers on the structural integrity of the Apify ecosystem. You will be responsible for the foundational layers that allow web data platforms to function reliably at scale. The role demands a focus on durability, performance, and the orchestration of complex distributed systems. Success is measured by the stability of the pipelines and the efficiency of the execution environment.
The position is based in our Prague offices. The successful candidate will work alongside a tight-knit group of engineers dedicated to the core infrastructure. Your contributions will directly shape how thousands of users interact with critical backend services.
Core Responsibilities
The position involves managing the lifecycle of data processing workflows. You will design the channels that transport information from source to execution environment. This includes ensuring that data moves efficiently through the system without bottlenecks or data loss.
You will build the layers that transform raw input into structured output. This involves selecting the right technologies for the frontend and the server-side logic. The goal is to create interfaces that are both powerful for operators and robust under heavy load.
Maintaining the execution landscape is a key duty. You will oversee the systems that schedule and run tasks across distributed nodes. This involves managing resources to ensure that high-priority workflows receive the necessary compute capacity.
Reliability extends to the network layer. You will be involved in the technologies that allow Apify to interact with the public internet. This includes managing the routing and access mechanisms that prevent disruptions due to network restrictions.
The public interface of the platform is also within scope. You will help maintain the contracts that external systems and developers rely on. This includes the frameworks that power the API and the administrative console.

What you'll do

Requirements
The candidate must possess a strong background in computer science fundamentals and enterprise software development. A minimum of eight years of professional experience in software engineering is mandatory. Demonstrated expertise in both frontend and backend technologies is a strict requirement for this position. Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks and server-side programming languages is essential.
Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes is required. Deep understanding of distributed systems and network protocols is non-negotiable.
