Technical Operations Engineer, Maneuver Dominance
Job description
About the role
You connect product engineering with deployed operations to ensure reliable employment of unmanned aerial systems in austere environments. You shape long-term sustainment and combat employment of air vehicles while standing up forward operations. You participate directly in advancing vehicle autonomy through test events and customer demonstrations.
Key facts
What you'll do
Forward-deployed operations in austere environments are established to ensure reliable mission execution under remote conditions. Warfighter needs in demanding settings are satisfied by shaping the combat employment of Anduril air vehicles. Continuity and resilience across deployed missions are provided by defining long-term sustainment for air vehicle capabilities.
Requirements
The posting states a pay range of $113000 to $155000.
Hands-on technical experience in field operations, manufacturing, or test contexts builds a practical foundation for complex system issues. Operational relevance and systems awareness are developed through prior military or defense contractor experience as a manned or unmanned pilot, network technician, or crew chief/maintainer. Safe and effective deployment decisions are informed by understanding flight operations, aircraft systems, and sensors. Mission success in unstructured situations is pursued by solving problems at the intersection of hardware, software, and operations when standard procedures are insufficient. Shared solutions are defined by reconciling differing perspectives from cross-functional engineering teams and external customers. Reliability and repeatability are improved through data-driven root cause analysis on complex systems using logs as a source of truth. Operational technology needs are supported by comfort with computers, terminal environments, server management, and programming languages such as Python, Rust, and MATLAB. Connectivity and performance in distributed environments are maintained through IP networking, network administration or design, and strong troubleshooting skills. communication across contested domains is enabled by radios such as MANET, SATCOM, and backpack systems. Effective use and reduced support overhead are ensured by training peers or customers on product operation. Extended field assignments in challenging conditions are prepared for through prior, operationally relevant deployment experience. Global operational requirements are supported by travel up to 80 percent, including occasional deployments for up to two months at a time. Urgent timelines and evolving mission needs are addressed by performing extended work hours as required. Access to sensitive programs is granted by obtaining and maintaining an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance. Operational readiness is ensured by meeting health and medical requirements in advance of deployments per DFARS 252.225-7040, DoDI 3020.41, and additional regional or force-specific requirements.
Nice to have
Foundational knowledge for complex system operations is provided by a Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline. Enhanced domain and safety awareness is gained through hands-on professional experience with developmental weapon or missile systems on manned and unmanned aircraft. Autonomy behaviors are understood through experience with behavior trees, CV models, and multi-vehicle operation. Integration with layered defense architectures is enabled by familiarity with ground-based air defense systems, either sensors or effectors. Platform reliability and availability are supported by experience with operations and maintenance of air breathing propulsion systems. Compliance and safety in sensitive environments is ensured by knowledge of munitions storage and handling controls.
Skills & tools
Rapid iteration and diagnostics are facilitated by comfort in a terminal environment and server management. Automation and analysis are accelerated by programming or interaction with Python, Rust, and MATLAB. Connectivity and performance issues are resolved through troubleshooting of IP networking, network administration, and design. Communication in contested environments is maintained using radios such as MANET, SATCOM, and backpack systems. Effective adoption is scaled by sharing product operation knowledge with peers or customers.
Practical notes
This role may involve frequent travel and occasional deployments lasting up to two months. The position requires extended work hours to meet operational demands. Good to know
