About the role

Amber Group is seeking a dedicated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic team in Hong Kong. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our systems and services. As an SRE, you will collaborate closely with software engineers and product teams to enhance our infrastructure and streamline operations. Your expertise will help us maintain our commitment to delivering exceptional services to our clients in the fast-paced digital asset space.

What you'll do

Design and implement scalable and reliable systems to support our growing infrastructure needs.
Monitor system performance and availability, using metrics and logging to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Collaborate with development teams to ensure that new features are designed with reliability and performance in mind.
Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce the potential for human error.
Develop and maintain incident response protocols to ensure quick recovery from outages and minimize downtime.
Conduct root cause analysis on incidents to prevent recurrence and improve system resilience.
Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems and services.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing across teams.
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline the deployment process and enhance software delivery speed.
Engage in capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure that systems can handle increased loads efficiently.
Collaborate with security teams to ensure that all systems are secure and compliant with industry standards.
Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in site reliability engineering to continuously improve our processes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar.
Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
Understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

Experience with database management and optimization, particularly with SQL and NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Contributions to open-source projects or participation in tech communities.
Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards relevant to cloud infrastructure.
Experience with performance testing and load testing tools.

Skills & tools

Proficient in cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, Go)
Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
