About the role
Alpaca is seeking an experienced International Accounting Manager to oversee global accounting functions and support the company's worldwide expansion. This role is crucial for managing multi-entity consolidations, ensuring accurate intercompany transactions, and collaborating with international finance teams to deliver precise financial reporting and maintain compliance. The successful candidate will own the integrity of consolidated financial results for a diverse portfolio of international subsidiaries. You will be responsible for leading complex accounting activities that bridge different regulatory environments and business practices. This position requires a proactive approach to process optimization and cross-functional collaboration. You will partner with key stakeholders to drive strategic financial initiatives that support the growth of the business. The role demands a high level of technical proficiency and judgment to navigate the complexities of international financial operations.
Key facts
What you'll do
Lead consolidated financial reporting for multiple international entities on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Manage and reconcile intercompany accounts, ensuring accurate eliminations across global subsidiaries.
Oversee foreign currency translation processes and accounting for cumulative translation adjustments.
Support the accounting operations and statutory compliance for entities in the United States, Canada, Bahamas, United Kingdom, Japan, Spain, Singapore, India, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates.
Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and perform variance analysis.
Assist with internal and external audits for global operations.
Identify and implement improvements to international accounting processes and financial systems.
Collaborate with Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Payroll, Legal, Operations, and People teams on international business activities.
Own the technical accounting for new entity setups and ensure timely integration into global reporting frameworks.
Monitor and interpret changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements across all operating jurisdictions.
Develop and maintain robust financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance in reporting.
Coordinate with external advisors to resolve complex accounting issues and ensure adherence to policies.
Analyze financial data to provide insights that support decision-making and performance management.
Ensure the consistency and transparency of financial information provided to senior leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a significant portion focused on international accounting.
Demonstrated expertise in multi-entity consolidations and intercompany accounting.
Experience supporting accounting operations across various global locations.
Proficiency in U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is strongly preferred.
Experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Workday Financials.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial reporting capabilities.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
Capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth global setting.
Nice to have
Experience in public accounting, preferably with a Big Four or national firm.
Background in fintech, financial services, Software as a Service (SaaS), or other high-growth technology sectors.
Familiarity with statutory reporting requirements in North America, EMEA, and APAC regions.
Experience with ERP implementations, accounting system migrations, or finance transformation projects.
Knowledge of SOX controls and internal control frameworks.
Experience supporting the launch of new legal entities internationally.
