- Spearhead the design and execution of major, impactful features that drive the company's success.
- Engage in the development of features across various segments of Alpaca's infrastructure, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the system.
- Build tools that streamline partner workflows, significantly reducing manual processes and enhancing productivity.
- Play a crucial role in shaping the architectural vision and technical strategy of the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to devise and implement effective solutions that meet diverse needs.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their growth and influencing key technical decisions.
- Analyze user feedback and performance metrics to iterate on features and improve user experience.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality standards and best practices are maintained.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to keep Alpaca at the forefront of innovation.
- Document development processes, code changes, and architectural decisions to maintain clear communication within the team.
- Assist in troubleshooting and debugging issues across the stack, ensuring system reliability and performance.
- Work closely with product managers to align development efforts with business objectives and user needs.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in full-stack software development.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with a solid understanding of their ecosystems.
- Experience with at least one modern systems programming language, such as Golang or C#.
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS frameworks, particularly TailwindCSS, to create responsive designs.
- Proven ability to gather, analyze, and translate stakeholder requirements into functional features.
- Experience in building user-facing features from conception to deployment.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, with a preference for PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of REST API design principles and best practices to ensure seamless integration.
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.
Nice to have
- Experience in algorithmic trading, whether through professional work or personal projects.
- Familiarity with major cloud service providers, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- A solid understanding of financial markets and trading mechanisms.
- Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Previous experience in a startup environment, adapting to fast-paced changes.
- Comfort working in a remote setting, with the ability to manage time effectively.
- Experience in developing mobile applications using React Native would be a plus.
