What you'll do

Investigate and analyze complex factual scenarios to identify viable legal theories that protect fundamental rights and liberties.

Draft comprehensive pleadings, motions, and appellate briefs that persuasively articulate constitutional principles before courts and tribunals.

Conduct rigorous legal research using statutes, case law, and scholarly commentary to anticipate opposing arguments and refine our positions.

Represent clients in hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution forums, presenting clear and compelling oral arguments.

Develop and implement litigation strategies that leverage administrative processes, media engagement, and coalition building to achieve durable outcomes.

Evaluate potential cases through a multidisciplinary lens, integrating medical, scientific, and theological considerations where relevant.

Cultivate relationships with clients, allies, and stakeholders to ensure responsive and trauma-informed legal support.

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments to advise on proactive advocacy and timely intervention opportunities.

Coordinate with communications and media teams to ensure consistent public messaging that aligns with our mission and values.

Utilize project management tools to track case milestones, deadlines, and deliverables with precision and accountability.

Perform case assessments and intake interviews to determine the viability and strategic priority of new matters.

Collaborate with external counsel and experts to strengthen our positions on intricate scientific or technical issues.

Document all legal work meticulously to support peer review, knowledge management, and continuity of representation.

Engage in continuous professional development to remain at the forefront of constitutional law and advocacy techniques.

Requirements

You must be a licensed attorney in good standing with a state bar or an eligible law student who intends to seek admission upon completion of your legal education.

You must possess a demonstrated commitment to religious freedom, free speech, the sanctity of life, marriage and family, and parental rights as core professional values.

You must be willing to subscribe to and uphold the Statement of Faith of Alliance Defending Freedom as a condition of employment.

You must have strong written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences.

You must be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

You must be comfortable managing multiple high-stakes matters simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and organizational excellence.

You must be prepared to travel domestically as needed for court appearances, client meetings, and strategic engagements.

You must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary to meet critical deadlines or respond to urgent matters.

You must have experience with legal research, drafting, and case management, or demonstrate the capacity to quickly master these skills in a supportive setting.

You must be proficient in standard office software and legal technology platforms to perform duties efficiently and securely.

You must maintain professional demeanor and ethical conduct at all times, reflecting the values and standards of the organization.

You must be able to pass a background check and meet any additional screening requirements standard for roles within the legal sector.

You must be authorized to work in the United States and comply with all applicable employment eligibility verification processes.
