What you'll do
- Design and implement robust data pipelines that efficiently process and analyze large volumes of data from various sources, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Collaborate with data scientists and product managers to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable solutions that meet business needs.
- Optimize existing data storage solutions and improve data retrieval processes to enhance performance and reduce latency.
- Develop and maintain data models that support analytics and reporting, ensuring data integrity and consistency across platforms.
- Implement data governance practices to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data-related issues, providing timely resolutions to maintain system performance and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in data engineering, proposing innovative solutions to enhance our data capabilities.
- Document data architecture, processes, and workflows to ensure clarity and facilitate onboarding of new team members.
- Engage in agile development practices, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to drive project success.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to deploy data solutions in cloud environments, ensuring scalability and security.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other teams within the organization, promoting data literacy and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a strong understanding of data modeling and ETL processes.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with experience in data manipulation libraries and frameworks.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including but not limited to PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, particularly in relation to data storage and processing services.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques, with the ability to create meaningful insights from complex datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in an agile development environment and familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
Nice to have
- Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and frameworks, enabling collaboration with data science teams.
- Knowledge of data security practices and experience implementing data protection measures.
- Previous experience in the IoT domain or working with sensor data is a plus.
- Understanding of data compliance regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
