About the role
Abridge is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to own the end-to-end delivery of our mobile application experience, driving forward the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare through AI. You will architect and implement the mobile client, ensuring seamless performance and reliability across diverse devices while collaborating closely with design and product teams. This role involves building and maintaining the mobile tech stack, which includes React, TypeScript, and potentially Electron, to bring clinical conversations to life on mobile platforms. You will set and enforce standards for accessibility, performance, and security to uphold the highest quality in our applications. The position requires deep empathy for clinicians and patients to translate complex requirements into intuitive mobile interactions. You will mentor other engineers and contribute to the technical strategy that shapes our mobile future. Ultimately, you will be responsible for delivering robust mobile features that enable clinicians to focus on patient care.

What you'll do
- Scale up our business by architecting and delivering mobile features using React and TypeScript within our mobile tech stack.
- Implement high-performance, secure mobile modules that integrate with our real-time AI platform and electronic medical record systems.
- Drive the design and implementation of our mobile user interface to ensure exceptional accessibility, usability, and responsiveness.
- Establish and maintain coding standards, best practices, and architectural patterns specific to the mobile ecosystem.
- Optimize application performance, stability, and security across the entire mobile lifecycle from development to production.
- Build deep user empathy by conducting mobile user research and incorporating clinician feedback into product iterations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with machine learning, design, and infrastructure teams to align mobile capabilities with AI advancements.
- Mentor junior mobile engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the mobile team.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging mobile technologies to keep our applications at the forefront of healthcare delivery.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data privacy standards in all mobile implementations.
- Lead mobile testing strategies, including automated testing and manual QA, to guarantee a reliable user experience.
- Partner with product managers to define mobile roadmaps and prioritize features based on clinical impact.
- Contribute to the development of reusable components and libraries that accelerate mobile development across the organization.
- Monitor and analyze mobile application metrics to inform improvements and drive data-driven decisions.
Requirements
- 7+ years' experience building, shipping, and supporting web applications, including 5+ years of experience with React.
- Demonstrated history of independently delivering web applications or features within larger web projects.
- Proven excitement about working in mobile technology stacks involving React, TypeScript, and potentially Electron.
- Strong ability to operate with autonomy and self-direction while thriving in collaborative team environments.
- Willingness to engage in any area necessary to support the startup's rapid growth and evolving priorities.
- Comfort with working across multiple domains and programming languages while maintaining curiosity for experimentation and learning.
- Deep expertise in leveraging AI tools to enhance engineering productivity and workflow optimization.
- Experience with audio playback, audio recording, file encryption, or online versus offline mode support is a significant advantage.
- A strong commitment to building products that prioritize the needs of clinicians and patients above all else.
- Understanding of healthcare data sensitivity and dedication to maintaining the highest levels of security and privacy.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to the professional growth of the team.

- Demonstrated ownership in previous roles, taking initiative to solve complex problems independently.
- Experience contributing to open source or engaging with the developer community is valued.
