VP of Engineering

About the role

Zocks is a venture-backed startup building AI tools to automate data entry and streamline operations for financial services. We are looking for a strategic leader to scale our engineering organization and partner with our founders to shape our long-term technical direction.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with the CTO to define and implement our engineering strategy.
• Mentor and manage Engineering Managers to foster a high-performance culture.
• Improve delivery predictability, planning processes, and overall organizational health.
• Lead complex cross-functional initiatives across multiple development teams.
• Partner with product leadership to balance business priorities with technical investments.
• Represent our engineering capabilities to customers and external stakeholders.
• Establish scalable operating models and organizational structures as we grow.
• Promote high standards for architecture, security, and operational reliability.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including leading through multiple management layers.
• Previous experience as a VP, Director, or Head of Engineering in a second-line leadership capacity.
• Background in product-led B2B SaaS companies (agency or consulting experience is not suitable).
• Proven ability to build and develop engineering leadership teams.
• Expertise in defining organizational design and engineering operating models.
• Excellent English and Hungarian communication skills.
• Experience with security, compliance, or enterprise software environments.
• Technical credibility within modern cloud-native organizations to discuss architecture and trade-offs.
