Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Zocks is a venture-backed startup building AI tools to automate data entry and streamline workflows for the financial services sector. We are looking for a senior technical leader to shape our product architecture and guide our engineering team as we scale our platform.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Integrate advanced AI models into customer-facing features at scale.
• Lead architectural planning and establish technical standards for the engineering team.
• Manage features from initial design through to production deployment.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers through code reviews.
• Partner with the engineering manager to make high-level team decisions.
• Build automation frameworks for testing, deployment, and service monitoring.
• Design and scale distributed systems using both synchronous and asynchronous patterns.
• Document system functionality and identify opportunities to improve developer productivity.

Requirements

• 7+ years of full-stack software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python and React, or comparable languages like Java or NodeJS.
• Demonstrated history of leading technical direction and architectural design.
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level developers.
• Ability to identify system inefficiencies independently and propose solutions.
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Experience working within an agile environment, ideally in a startup setting.
• Professional fluency in both English and Hungarian.
