About the role

Zocks is a venture capital-backed startup building AI tools for the financial services sector to automate data entry and streamline operations. We are seeking a leader to build and manage our data function, integrating it directly into our core product capabilities rather than treating it as a support unit.

What you'll do

• Manage and mentor a team of Data Analysts while hiring Data Scientists and Data Engineers.
• Design team structures, operational workflows, and hiring plans to scale the data organization.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to align data priorities with business goals.
• Integrate data insights into our AI-native platform to improve customer outcomes.
• Establish data governance standards, including metric definitions, documentation, and data quality frameworks.
• Translate complex technical requirements into actionable business strategies for various stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in Data, Analytics, or Business Intelligence.
• 2+ years of experience leading data teams in a B2B SaaS environment.
• Demonstrated success in recruiting, coaching, and developing technical talent.
• Proficiency in data modeling, ETL pipelines, data warehousing, and modern architecture.
• Experience managing data governance, semantic layers, and data dictionaries.
• Ability to bridge the gap between technical engineering teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
• Fluent in both English and Hungarian.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling a data department from a small team to a larger function.
• Background working with US-based stakeholders or customers.
• Familiarity with AI-driven or data-heavy product environments.
• Working knowledge of AWS, SQL, and Python.
• Experience with modern BI tools and supporting Data Science or Machine Learning teams.
