Staff Developer

This role is part of our engineering organization, where your technical decisions directly support our mission.

As a Staff Developer, you will own the design and long term health of our platform. You will solve difficult technical problems related to scale, reliability, and performance. Your work will enable faster development and more predictable delivery. You will mentor other engineers, influence architectural direction, and use data to guide decisions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys deep technical work and wants to see their impact in production systems.

What You'll Do

You will design and maintain software architectures that support business objectives and ensure system reliability. You will apply domain driven design and object oriented principles to structure our codebase as complexity grows. You will implement background processing, manage concurrency, and build efficient data ingestion pipelines. You will introduce and enforce coding standards that improve code quality and make maintenance easier over time.

You will use artificial intelligence tools to automate repetitive tasks and reduce manual effort in development workflows. You will conduct detailed code reviews that focus on correctness, performance, and clarity, aiming to reduce defects. You will analyze data from our warehouse and external sources to identify performance issues and product opportunities. You will work closely with product managers and stakeholders to align technical work with business needs. You will participate in sprint planning, story refinement, and agile ceremonies to keep delivery predictable. You will follow secure development practices and ensure our deployment processes meet operational standards. You will build and maintain data pipelines that handle large volumes of information reliably.

Requirements

You have at least six years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails. You understand core computer science concepts, including clean code, testing strategies, and efficient database queries. You have led projects that involved high traffic, background jobs, and complex third party data integrations. You are familiar with security best practices, common threats, and frameworks such as SOC

2. You have experience with cloud platforms, serverless architectures, queues, and infrastructure as code. You have used data to solve problems, streamline workflows, and remove development bottlenecks. You know SQL well, including optimization, query tuning, and ETL processes. You are comfortable using analytics tools to investigate issues and surface insights.
