About the role

We are hiring a backend engineer to assist in the training and evaluation of emerging AI systems. You will contribute to the evolution of machine learning models by providing high-quality technical feedback and real-world coding data.

What you'll do

• Build and refine REST and GraphQL API endpoints.
• Implement security protocols, error management, and data validation for backend services.
• Manage database schema updates, migrations, and performance tuning.
• Evaluate AI models within the Cursor environment by documenting bugs, incident reports, and visual traces.
• Complete 4-day testing sprints to analyze how AI tools influence software development workflows.
• Communicate findings and improvement suggestions to the research team via Slack.
• Provide comprehensive survey data regarding model performance and overall developer experience.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience using Python.
• Proficiency in developing and supporting RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Technical knowledge of API security, error handling, and data validation.
• Experience with database schema design and performance optimization.
• Ability to document technical issues and bugs clearly through written reports.
• Experience working in fast-paced, remote, and confidential team settings.

Nice to have

• Publicly visible open source contributions or GitHub projects.
• Background in creating or testing experimental developer tools.
• Interest in the progression of AI within the software engineering field.
