Game Developer - Remote at YO AI Labs.
About the role
YO AI Labs is looking for a Game Tools and Modding Engineer to focus on engine-level architecture and rendering systems. You will build high-performance applications by working directly with low-level graphics pipelines and custom tooling.

What you'll do
- Architect and implement engine features and game systems using C++.
- Create and maintain tools and modding support for game projects.
- Manage rendering pipelines, shader development, and real-time graphics systems.
- Perform deep optimizations for CPU, GPU, memory, and rendering tasks.
- Develop and extend internal pipelines and engine systems to assist the broader development team.
- Partner with artists, designers, and other engineers to ship high-quality software.
- Troubleshoot complex rendering bugs, performance bottlenecks, and cross-platform issues.
- Produce clean, documented code and engage in peer code reviews.
Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of professional experience in real-time graphics or game development.
- Advanced proficiency in C++.
- Practical experience with at least one major graphics API: DirectX 11, DirectX 12, Vulkan, OpenGL, or Metal.
- Deep knowledge of rendering pipelines and shader languages like HLSL or GLSL.
- Mastery of 3D mathematics and real-time graphics principles.
- Experience working with Unreal Engine or comparable game engines.
- Proven ability to optimize memory usage, multithreading, and hardware performance.
- Capability to work autonomously within a distributed remote team.
Nice to have
- History of modifying game engines or building low-level systems.
- Proficiency with profiling software such as RenderDoc, PIX, or Nsight.
- Experience developing for performance-constrained hardware or cross-platform environments.
- Prior work on editor extensions, pipelines, or internal tooling.
- Experience with large-scale systems or multiplayer architecture.
