About the role
YLD is a remote-first consultancy seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our client-facing teams. You will design and build scalable, fault-tolerant systems while mentoring colleagues and driving engineering standards.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop new product features to meet client requirements.
- Implement CI/CD models to ensure continuous delivery.
- Collaborate with team members and leads to architect high-availability, zero-downtime solutions.
- Manage production operations and monitoring to meet service level agreements.
- Mentor junior engineers to support their professional development.
- Present project progress and technical work during company show and tells.
Requirements
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Go, with a willingness to learn new languages.
- Experience with modern frameworks such as FastAPI, Gin, or Express.
- Production knowledge of React, responsive design, accessibility standards, and state management.
- Expertise in system design, load balancing, and high-availability architectures.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL database design and optimization.
- API development skills covering REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures, message queues like RabbitMQ or Kafka, and caching via Redis.
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Ability to debug production issues and use AI tools to improve engineering output.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
