About the role
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for our application process, the primary point of customer interaction. This role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on building and growing a high-performing engineering team. You will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction and ensuring the successful delivery of critical product features.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Guide and develop backend engineers focused on the application experience, including their career progression, performance, and hiring.
- Define and maintain the team's technical strategy, architecture, and quality standards, ensuring reliable production performance.
- Actively participate in technical decision-making through design and code reviews, and contribute to resolving complex engineering challenges.
- Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering functions to bring new features from concept to launch, improving our development processes.
- Contribute to scaling the engineering organization by recruiting top talent and enhancing our development practices.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, demonstrating deep systems understanding, architectural proficiency, and a strong grasp of software lifecycles and failure modes.
- At least 1 year of formal experience managing an engineering team.
- Proficiency in a statically typed programming language; experience with Go is preferred, but strong skills in languages like Java with a willingness to learn Go are welcome.
- Proven ability to elevate the skills of engineers around you and foster positive working relationships.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in fintech, payments, card processing, lending, or banking, especially with Go.
- Familiarity with Postgres, Redis, and AWS.
- Experience working in an early-stage startup environment.
