About the role
You will architect and own the end-to-end supply chain strategy that directly supports Xcimer's mission to deploy fusion power plants at the pace required for global decarbonization. In this capacity, you will lead the design of material flows, inventory policies, and supplier networks that ensure the availability of critical components for laser and chamber systems. You will own the cross-functional integration between technical programs and commercial manufacturing, translating high-level energy goals into executable supply chain metrics and processes. You will establish the governance framework that aligns cost, quality, and schedule performance across research, pilot operations, and future high-volume production. You will drive data-driven decision-making to de-risk technical schedules and secure the reliability of the supply base for high-energy-density technologies. You will build and mentor a supply chain organization capable of operating at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and mission-critical energy infrastructure. You will serve as the primary interface with investors and partners on supply chain resilience, ensuring transparency and confidence in execution. You will lead the implementation of digital tools and analytics that provide visibility from component sourcing to final system verification.

What you'll do
Define the end-to-end supply chain architecture for Xcimer's inertial fusion energy systems, covering sourcing, production, and distribution.
Develop and manage supplier strategies for critical laser, optical, and structural components, ensuring technical fit and manufacturability.
Establish material requirements planning and inventory optimization processes that balance R&D agility with commercial scale-up efficiency.
Lead qualification and certification programs for suppliers, enforcing quality standards that protect system reliability and regulatory compliance.
Partner with Engineering to translate technical specifications into procurement packages, lead times, and acceptance criteria for complex components.
Implement cost modeling and spend analytics to drive total cost of ownership reductions across the value chain.
Collaborate with Program Management to align material and production plans with project milestones and technology development roadmaps.
Build risk management frameworks that monitor single points of failure, geographic concentration, and supply continuity for mission-critical items.
Define and deploy digital tools for supply chain visibility, enabling real-time tracking of parts, vendors, and production status.
Lead cross-functional negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms while ensuring technical performance and delivery commitments.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance throughput, reduce lead times, and increase robustness across the supply network.
Partner with Finance to develop business cases for supply chain investments, including tooling, inventory, and supplier development programs.
Drive the integration of sustainability and circularity principles into sourcing decisions, aligning with decarbonization objectives.
Establish metrics and reporting structures that provide leadership with clear insight into supply chain health and execution against strategic goals.
Own the development of playbooks and standard operating procedures that enable scalable execution as Xcimer moves from prototype to commercial deployment.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience leading supply chain functions in a high-tech or energy sector, with a track record of managing complex supplier networks.
Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
Bring 10+ years of progressive responsibility in supply chain leadership roles, managing end-to-end processes from strategy to execution.
Showcase a strong background in managing suppliers for precision-engineered components, optics, or high-performance materials.
Exhibit deep familiarity with manufacturing processes relevant to energy systems, including laser technology, vacuum systems, and high-strength materials.
Have a proven history of using data and modeling to optimize inventory, reduce costs, and improve service levels in capital-intensive environments.
Demonstrate expertise in risk management, contract negotiation, and cross-functional leadership in matrixed organizations.
Show commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in execution-focused environments.
Nice to have
Experience in fusion energy, advanced manufacturing, or high-energy physics projects is highly valued.
Familiarity with digital supply chain platforms, AI-driven forecasting, and advanced analytics tools.
Background in building supplier development programs and strategic partnerships in capital-intensive industries.
