About the role
In this position, you will take an active role as a Machine Learning engineer, involved in all phases of developing and deploying applications. Your contributions will directly influence Bellwether's practical products, focusing on real-world applications rather than theoretical research.

What you'll do
- Play a vital role in establishing new systems and processes to guarantee high-quality development, deployment, and maintenance of applications in live settings.
- Build and manage infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform for software development and high-volume production systems.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to help shape the direction of future development efforts.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Over 5 years of experience in the machine learning development lifecycle, including research, experimentation, and ML-Ops.
- Significant hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), multi-modal systems like Vision Language Models (VLMs), and Geospatial Foundation Models.
- Proven experience in fine-tuning various deep learning architectures, including model validation and performance enhancement.
- Proficiency in ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras/JAX, and Python libraries like NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas.
- Familiarity with open-source tools including Git, TensorFlow, Apache Beam/Dataflow, and Google Compute Engine.
- Background in early-stage projects where prototype technologies transition into production.
- Ability to thrive in an Agile environment, contributing to iterative sprints and new ideas, standards, and processes.
- Experience in customer interaction.
Nice to have
- Experience in the geospatial industry at a production level, covering tasks such as code development, security management, troubleshooting, and application performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with a diverse range of geospatial data.
- Experience in scaling machine learning applications into production within ML Operations.
Practical notes
The base salary for this full-time role in the US ranges from $174,000 to $255,000, plus bonuses, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation is influenced by location and other factors, including relevant skills and experience. Your recruiter will provide specific salary details during the hiring process.
