What you'll do

Orchestrate the deployment and management of infrastructure on AWS using infrastructure-as-code principles to ensure consistency and reliability.

Develop robust backend services and command-line tools using Python or Go to automate complex operational tasks and improve system efficiency.

Implement and monitor Big Data pipelines to ensure the timely processing and integrity of information across distributed cloud environments.

Troubleshoot intricate system-level issues by analyzing logs, metrics, and network traffic to identify root causes and implement effective fixes.

Refactor legacy components into modular, cloud-native architectures that improve scalability and maintainability of federal applications.

Collaborate with security engineers to ensure that all deployments comply with federal security policies and data protection regulations.

Optimize system performance by tuning configurations and automating scaling strategies to handle variable government workloads.

Translate high-level architectural requirements into detailed technical specifications that guide the development lifecycle.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems and processes to facilitate knowledge transfer and operational continuity.

Serve as a technical lead for specific projects, guiding junior engineers and ensuring the successful delivery of cloud-based solutions.

Requirements

United States Citizenship is mandatory for this role due to federal contract requirements.

You must possess an Active TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph investigation to be eligible for consideration.

Candidates must have a strong foundation in Linux operating systems, including proficiency with command-line utilities and shell scripting.

You are required to have hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) services such as EC2, S3, and IAM.

Demonstrated programming experience in either Python or Go is necessary to develop and maintain software components.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, which requires a background investigation.

The role requires the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions with minimal direct supervision.

You must comply with all federal laws, regulations, and contractual obligations related to the handling of sensitive data.

Nice to have

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is preferred.

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and configuration management tools such as Jenkins or Terraform is advantageous.

Understanding of networking fundamentals and load balancing concepts within a cloud environment is beneficial.

Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases commonly used in enterprise government applications is a plus.

Practical notes

This is a hybrid role that requires work on-site in Columbia, Maryland on a regular basis.

Candidates must be available to work during standard business hours as required by federal agency schedules.

The possession of an Active TS/SCI security clearance is a strict prerequisite for this position.
