About the role
WSP is looking for an early-career engineer to join our team in Austin to assist with the planning, design, and delivery of diverse infrastructure and land development projects. You will work alongside senior staff to support all stages of project development, from initial concepts through final construction.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Analyze data from surveys, field investigations, GIS, utility records, and geotechnical reports to support design and construction.
- Assist in the design of grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater systems, and roadways.
- Prepare technical documentation, including engineering calculations, design memoranda, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct site assessments and field inspections to evaluate existing conditions.
- Coordinate permit applications with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planners, environmental specialists, and surveyors.
- Identify project risks and contribute to technical evaluations and engineering recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience, including internships or co-ops.
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles, design standards, and permitting processes.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments with strong attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
- Availability for occasional travel and schedules required by project needs.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Nice to have
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or active progress toward licensure.
- Previous experience with civil infrastructure, municipal, utility, transportation, or renewable energy projects.
- Membership in professional organizations such as ASCE or NSPE.
