Key facts
What you'll do
- Execute design and mapping tasks, including alignment sheets, detailed piping drawings, cross sections, isometrics, P&IDs, and other necessary exhibits.
- Utilize BlueSky Mapping Software, Civil 3D, and GIS tools while adhering to client standards.
- Create comprehensive construction plan sets for natural gas utility projects under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer.
- Develop initial layouts and final design drawings based on engineering notes, sketches, survey maps, shapefiles, and topographic data.
- Assist in enhancing mapping development strategies to improve drafting and design capabilities.
- Work with stakeholders to create templates, libraries, and tools that meet client specifications.
- Ensure compliance with project scope, client needs, jurisdictional codes, and industry standards.
- Review drawings and related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Keep organized records of project drawing revisions, plan sets, and associated documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the design manager and project team.
- Support the design team and document management efforts using Microsoft Teams.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Prepare construction documents, including plan and profile sheets, site plans, cross sections, and notes.
- Apply experience with surface and corridor creation, pipe networks, and grading tools.
- Utilize Sheet Set Manager procedures, including fields, custom properties, and model and sheet views.
- Maintain a solid understanding of Civil 3D project organization and drawing structure.
- Adhere to CAD standards and structured workflows to enhance efficiency and minimize design hours.
Requirements
- An associate degree in drafting, design, or a related field from an accredited institution, or a minimum of 2 years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with design software such as BlueSky Skyline/Lightning, SEED File Database, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro, and Trimble Business Center.
- Prior experience with natural gas pipeline and facility projects or a related area is highly preferred.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Capability to prepare, read, and interpret construction plans and technical documents, with strong skills in Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam for design review.
- A process-oriented mindset with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience in developing KPIs and benchmarks.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and delegate when necessary.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Current knowledge of industry trends and best practices in gas pipeline design, GIS, mapping, and drafting tools.
