Privacy and AI Counsel

About the role

Join our group privacy team in London to provide legal guidance on data protection and AI-related initiatives. You will report to the UK and EMEA privacy lead, collaborating across the company to integrate privacy standards into our financial products and infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Advise on product development, including conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments for AI projects and high-risk data processing.
• Manage privacy requirements for banking partner contracts and the Wise Platform.
• Provide legal support for international expansion and cross-border data sharing.
• Assist with global entity audits and the implementation of AI and data governance frameworks.
• Navigate complex regulatory environments to support the adoption of new technologies.

Requirements

• Qualified to practice law in the UK or a European jurisdiction with at least 4 years of post-qualification experience in privacy.
• Proven track record in privacy by design, impact assessments, and contract negotiation.
• Expertise in UK and EU privacy regulations, specifically regarding data usage in complex markets.
• Ability to manage projects independently and influence stakeholders across engineering, operations, and risk teams.
• Excellent command of the English language.

Nice to have

• Privacy certifications such as CIPP or CIPM.
• Background in the financial services sector.
• Knowledge of ethical AI frameworks, data anonymization, and Privacy Enhancing Technologies.
