Partner Risk Team Lead

About the role

You will manage the APAC Partner Risk team, focusing on high-risk customer profiles and correspondent banking environments. This role requires balancing regulatory compliance with commercial growth while leading a team of specialists to maintain Wise's risk appetite.

What you'll do

• Supervise daily operations and provide guidance on complex risk-based decisions.
• Manage team performance through data-driven KPIs and SLAs.
• Design training programs and career development plans for risk analysts.
• Oversee the implementation of monitoring controls and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Facilitate communication between 1LOD, 2LOD, and commercial stakeholders to align on risk tolerance.
• Lead hiring efforts and foster a culture of accountability and ownership.
• Resolve escalated issues and remove operational blockers for the team.

Requirements

• Expertise in AML/CFT regulations and correspondent banking risk.
• Experience in leading and coaching teams within a risk or compliance function.
• Ability to translate complex risk requirements into operational procedures.
• Proficiency in using data to track performance and report on team quality.
• Strong communication skills for managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to make high-stakes, calculated risk decisions.
