About the role

Wise is seeking a Senior Risk Manager to lead the operational risk framework for our US Broker Dealer franchise. You will oversee control monitoring, issue remediation, and risk assessments to ensure our financial services remain secure and compliant.

What you'll do

• Implement and manage the enterprise risk framework with a focus on operational risks, including risk and control self-assessments.
• Map end to end business processes to identify inherent risks and document necessary controls.
• Build and maintain a scalable program for monitoring controls.
• Assist internal teams in identifying, prioritizing, and resolving control gaps.
• Manage issue remediation through the Optro platform, ensuring timely validation and closure.
• Develop risk appetite statements and key risk indicators.
• Create data-driven dashboards to report on risk metrics and provide actionable insights.
• Conduct quarterly residual risk assessments and prepare reports for local and global risk committees and the board.
• Collaborate with business units to evaluate operational risks for new product launches.
• Cultivate a proactive risk management culture across the organization.

Requirements

• Professional background in financial services, specifically within fintech, investment management, advisory firms, or broker dealers.
• Expertise in enterprise or operational risk management, including risk reporting and residual risk assessment.
• Proven ability to perform process-level risk identification and control mapping.
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of issues, from root-cause analysis and logging to remediation and validation.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing control monitoring dashboards and key risk indicators.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to write concise executive narratives for board-level reporting.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with FINRA and SEC broker-dealer investment services and operations.
• Knowledge of payment products, ACH rails, and payment operations.
• Technical proficiency in SQL, Looker, Superset, or Lightdash.
