About the role
This role involves leading a multidisciplinary group of mobile, web, and backend engineers to improve how Wise Business customers manage payments. You will guide the technical strategy for products like Invoicing, Payment Links, and QuickPay while managing the professional development of your team members.

- Manage team performance, career growth, and wellbeing through coaching and regular feedback.
- Partner with product managers, analysts, and designers to prioritize customer problems and ship iterative solutions.
- Oversee the technical roadmap, focusing on security, system reliability, observability, and managing technical debt.
- Drive improvements in payment reconciliation, invoice publishing, and the onboarding experience for new users.
- Coordinate cross-functional technical decisions across mobile, web, and backend systems.
- Deconstruct ambiguous or large-scale challenges into manageable tasks with clear ownership.
- Manage delivery for market-specific or regulatory projects with fixed deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven background in engineering leadership, including people management and team development.
- Strong software engineering foundation with experience overseeing the design and production deployment of systems.
- Ability to provide technical direction across mobile, web, and backend domains.
- Experience utilizing AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle, from discovery and coding to testing and operations.
- Capability to communicate complex technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating and influencing across organizational boundaries.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards for software quality, security, and observability.
Nice to have
- Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Familiarity with relational databases.

- Starting salary: £105,000 - £135,000 plus RSUs.
