About the role
Wise is seeking a Senior Manager to join the North American financial crime compliance oversight team. You will work alongside the North American Financial Crime Compliance Lead to manage risk mitigation for customer due diligence and onboarding programs.

What you'll do
- Supervise day-to-day operations focused on AML and Fraud investigations to ensure risks are managed.
- Advise regional and global stakeholders on BSA, AML/CTF regulations, and internal policies for Wise US Inc and Wise Canada.
- Develop and maintain the compliance oversight framework for fraud and AML controls.
- Challenge first-line teams on control development and approve changes to products or features.
- Represent the compliance oversight function to regulators, auditors, and external partners.
- Oversee compliance operations and serve on the US SAR committee to provide feedback to the reporting team.
- Assist with the annual Financial Crime Risk Assessment for Wise US Inc.
- Monitor regulatory developments and implement necessary changes to business activities.
- Identify risk areas and collaborate with teams to build mitigation plans.
- Define and track metrics and key risk indicators, escalating issues with actionable recommendations.
Requirements
- Expert knowledge of US financial crime regulations, specifically the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and NY DFS Part 504.
- Professional background in fintech, financial institutions, money service businesses, or consulting with a focus on AML and Fraud investigations.
- Proven ability to design and challenge processes across various products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal and external audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
- Ability to travel to other offices as needed.
Nice to have
- Experience with OCC regulations.
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or equivalent certification.
- Background in conducting risk assessments.
- Experience with SAR quality assurance and quality control.
- Expertise in FinCrime risk related to AML and Fraud.
- Experience mentoring or training junior staff.
- Exposure to sanctions and OFAC risk as it relates to investigations, SARs, and transaction monitoring.
