What you'll do
- Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines to develop structural designs that meet project requirements and adhere to local codes and regulations.
- Conduct detailed structural analysis using advanced engineering software to ensure the integrity and safety of designs.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications for various types of structures, including commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
- Participate in site visits to assess existing structures, gather data, and provide recommendations for repairs or modifications.
- Coordinate with contractors and construction teams to ensure that designs are implemented accurately and efficiently during the construction phase.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, including cost estimates and timelines, to support business development efforts.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to incorporate innovative solutions into structural designs.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and quality control standards throughout the engineering process.
- Prepare reports and documentation for project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
- Participate in project meetings to communicate progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and practices within the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) in the state of Utah or the ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on design and analysis.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards related to structural engineering.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify and address engineering challenges.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and modeling purposes.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with seismic design and analysis, particularly in earthquake-prone regions.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green building certifications.
- Previous experience in project management or leading engineering teams.
- Professional affiliations, such as membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) or similar organizations.
