Tax Compliance Director

About the role

Wellhub is seeking a regional tax leader to manage compliance operations across Latin America from our São Paulo office. You will oversee tax strategy, drive digital automation, and ensure governance across multiple jurisdictions while partnering with global leadership.

What you'll do

• Develop and execute regional tax compliance strategies and risk management frameworks.
• Manage direct and indirect tax filings, ensuring adherence to statutory deadlines.
• Direct relationships with local tax BPOs and external advisors.
• Collaborate with Controllership, FP&A, Legal, Product, and Tax Controversy departments.
• Lead digital transformation projects involving AI, tax technology, and ERP systems.
• Create executive dashboards and KPIs for compliance monitoring.
• Track regional legislative changes and maintain relationships with tax authorities.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in a senior leadership role managing multi-jurisdictional tax functions.
• Deep technical expertise in Brazilian taxes (IRPJ, CSLL, PIS, COFINS, ICMS, ISS) and other major Latam jurisdictions.
• Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, or a related field.
• Proficiency in English and Portuguese.
• Experience with SOX control implementation.
• Mandatory: Proven background in Latam and Brazilian tax compliance management and leading regional tax technology or automation initiatives.

Nice to have

• MBA, Master in Taxation, or CPA/equivalent professional certification.
• Professional proficiency in Spanish.

Skills & tools

• ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle).
• AI-driven tax technologies and automation tools.
• Data analytics for compliance reporting.
