Employee Relations Sr Specialist - Works Council

About the role

Wellhub is looking for someone to serve as the main liaison between the company and German Works Councils. You will report to the Director of Employee Relations and collaborate with Legal, HRBPs, and leadership to navigate co-determination requirements while supporting business growth. This position sits within the People team and suits someone with deep expertise in the BetrVG who wants to make an impact in a fast-growing, mission-focused organization.

What you'll do

• Maintain ongoing communication with German Works Councils, keeping interactions clear, organized, and forward-looking
• Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate works agreements (Betriebsvereinbarungen) alongside Legal and relevant stakeholders
• Guide HRBPs and business leaders on co-determination rights, BetrVG obligations, and complex employee relations issues
• Provide Works Council consultation support for organizational changes, policy introductions, and technology rollouts
• Keep detailed records of all Works Council discussions, agreements, and negotiation results to ensure compliance and knowledge continuity
• Offer employee relations expertise to other European markets when needed

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of direct experience in German co-determination and employee relations
• Strong command of German labor law, especially the Works Constitution Act (BetrVG)
• Proven track record drafting works agreements and articulating company positions in negotiations
• Ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders ranging from local representatives to global leadership
• Degree in Law, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline
• Native-level German fluency and advanced English proficiency
• Experience negotiating directly with German Works Councils is mandatory
