Webflow is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Scientist to drive innovation in our agentic web marketing platform. This role is for an individual who thrives in fast-paced environments and sees early product development as a creative space for significant impact. You will tackle complex challenges to meet evolving customer needs and behaviors.

What you'll do
- Lead significant research efforts to advance the field of computer vision, multimodal understanding, and visual generation.
- Create new models, algorithms, and training methods for complex vision tasks like image and video analysis, visual search, scene representation, segmentation, detection, generation, and multimodal reasoning.
- Transform advanced research into practical model enhancements that can guide product strategy and enable new user experiences.
- Design, build, train, and optimize large-scale vision and multimodal foundation models using diverse data and objectives.
- Collaborate with applied scientists, ML engineers, and product teams to move research from initial exploration to production-ready systems.
- Define technical direction for key research areas, identifying promising avenues and influencing long-term strategy for vision and multimodal AI.
- Guide other scientists and engineers, elevate research quality standards, and foster a strong scientific culture within the team.
- Stay current with research in computer vision, multimodal learning, generative modeling, and foundation models, applying new techniques to real-world challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep understanding of computer vision principles and practical application, including representation learning, visual recognition, image/video generation, multimodal learning, and large-scale model training.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline; a PhD is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional or research experience, demonstrating a history of leading major research initiatives in computer vision or multimodal machine learning.
- Extensive experience with current vision and multimodal model architectures, such as transformers, diffusion models, contrastive learning, and foundation models.
- Proven ability to define research questions, conduct rigorous experiments, and translate findings into impactful model or product improvements.
- Strong programming and prototyping skills in Python, with the capacity to produce clean, scalable, and well-documented research code.
- Proficiency with deep learning frameworks including PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring team members and influencing research direction.
- Excellent communication abilities, capable of explaining complex research to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A curious and growth-oriented mindset, actively embracing AI and applying new technologies to enhance work processes, accelerate outcomes, and expand collective impact.

- Compensation for this role varies based on geographic location:
- United States: Zone A ($232,000 - $290,000), Zone B ($217,600 - $272,000), Zone C ($204,800 - $256,000)
- Canada (BC & ON): $253,000 - $316,000 CAD
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
