Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Weave is looking for an experienced engineer to help build and scale our healthcare communication platform. You will work within a global team to develop backend services that support over 30,000 healthcare practices.

What you'll do

• Develop and support backend services and APIs using Go.
• Create technical architecture plans that prioritize long-term system health and scalability.
• Partner with product, design, and frontend groups to launch new features.
• Lead system design discussions and contribute to the broader engineering strategy.
• Manage the full lifecycle of your code, including production reliability and observability.
• Guide project execution from initial concept to final delivery.
• Provide mentorship to other engineers and promote technical best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of backend development experience using languages such as Go, Java, Python, Ruby, or C#.
• Proficiency in developing ReSTful APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and service communication methods like gRPC, protobufs, ReST, or NSQ.
• Practical experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Readiness to join an on-call rotation to support production systems.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying and managing services on Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and observability tools for monitoring and tracing.
• Background in migrating monolithic architectures to microservices.
• Experience with Temporal.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members.
