Wealthsimple is seeking a skilled Senior Software Developer to join their Brokerage team in Toronto. This role involves working closely with various teams to identify and solve operational problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and a willingness to take ownership of complex projects.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with teams such as Brokerage Operations, AML/Compliance Supervision, and Trade Desk to understand workflows and identify areas for improvement
- Develop automated solutions for high-volume manual workflows, including regulatory reporting and journal entries
- Work with the AI agentic workflows team to build automated alerts and manage liquidation processes
Requirements
- Senior software engineer with full-stack experience and comfort with data pipelines, internal tooling, and AI-augmented workflow automation
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work with non-engineers and build trust with compliance officers and traders
- Ability to work independently and make judgment calls about what to fix without waiting for direction
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to take ownership of complex projects
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, brokerage operations, regulated financial services, or capital markets infrastructure
- Familiarity with Oracle/Exadata/EBS, ledger systems, or large-scale internal tooling platforms
- A track record of shipping AI-driven workflow automation in regulated environments
Skills & tools
- Strong programming skills, with experience in languages such as Java, Python, or C++
- Experience with data pipelines, internal tooling, and AI-augmented workflow automation
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
