Associate, Financial Planning and Sales Conduct
About the role
This position involves ensuring client-first advice is consistently delivered across our wealth management services. You will be responsible for the daily oversight and review of financial advisors, portfolio managers, and sales personnel to confirm adherence to regulatory standards.

What you'll do
- Conduct regular reviews of client accounts and advisor activities to verify that recommendations align with client needs and regulatory requirements.
- Examine financial plans created by advisors to ensure they are comprehensive, compliant with regulations, and meet client goals.
- Manage the firm's sales conduct review program, including targeted and risk-based assessments of client records and interactions.
- Audit client onboarding procedures to confirm that all necessary client information is complete and up-to-date.
- Identify and document potential conflicts of interest related to advisor activities and compensation structures.
- Propose and implement improvements to review processes and documentation standards, utilizing technology to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in a compliance, supervision, or conduct oversight role within a CIRO-regulated firm, with direct experience overseeing portfolio managers and associate portfolio managers.
- Strong understanding of Canadian securities regulations, including NI 31-103, CIRO IDPC Rules, and Client-Focused Reforms, particularly concerning Know Your Client (KYC), Know Your Product (KYP), suitability, and conflicts of interest.
- Familiarity with financial planning principles such as retirement income, tax-efficient investing, and estate planning, and how they relate to regulatory suitability.
- Completion of the CIRO Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam and Supervisor Examination, or prior completion of the Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH), and Investment Dealers Supervisors Course (IDSC) with eligibility for Supervisor registration.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze client files, trade data, and financial plans to identify discrepancies and potential issues.
- Comfort in communicating findings and upholding regulatory standards while maintaining professional relationships with business teams.
- A proactive approach to using technology and automation to improve workflows and scale supervision efforts.
Nice to have
- A CFP, PFP, or equivalent designation.
- Interest in pursuing the Chartered Investment Manager Designation (CIM®).
