About the role
Waymo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Sensor Simulation Platform Team. This role focuses on enhancing the simulation pipeline that supports the evaluation of the Waymo Driver's safety and performance. You will contribute to building simulators that can process extensive data and run millions of simulated miles each year.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain advanced simulators that facilitate the evaluation of Waymo's onboard models through extensive simulated miles.
- Collaborate with teams focusing on multi-modal data processing and simulation, utilizing technologies such as cameras, lidar, and radar.
- Work closely with AI and machine learning teams to enhance various components of the simulation pipeline.
Requirements
- Proven experience with 3D game engines.
- Background in simulating real-world scenarios through data, which may encompass physics simulation, animation capture, light transport, photogrammetry, neural radiance fields (NeRFs), or Gaussian splats.
- Familiarity with creating efficient asset management pipelines for data storage and processing.
Nice to have
- Experience with machine learning pipelines and an understanding of their training and improvement processes.
- Knowledge of scaling complex data processing pipelines, including the trade-offs associated with synchronous and asynchronous operations.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in simulation technologies and data processing frameworks.
- Experience with programming languages commonly used in simulation and data analysis.

The anticipated base salary for this full-time position ranges from $213,000 to $263,000 USD, depending on factors such as location, experience, and education. Waymo offers a discretionary annual bonus program, an equity incentive plan, and a comprehensive benefits package, subject to eligibility criteria.
