About the role

The Strategist is seeking a social editor to manage our brand presence and audience engagement across digital platforms. You will produce written and video content, oversee event coverage, and shape our social identity to ensure it remains distinct and culturally relevant.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Partner with the Senior Editor to manage daily social media operations and content creation.
• Produce, film, and edit short-form videos and recurring series for TikTok, Instagram, and other channels.
• Monitor shopping trends and pitch creative concepts to evolve our social voice.
• Write copy and design visuals that align with the editorial perspective of The Strategist.
• Coordinate with art, editorial, and social teams to execute rollout plans for major sales events and packages.
• Identify emerging memes and conversations within the shopping landscape.
• Refine strategies to expand reach and engagement across existing and new platforms.
• Test new formats and pitch ideas to increase the visibility of our stories.

Requirements

• Proven experience in growing an audience and managing social content across multiple platforms.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to craft engaging headlines and teasers.
• Deep familiarity with the tone and audience of The Strategist.
• Ability to track and interpret social media analytics.
• Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Suite.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Practical notes

• Salary range: $79,560 to $85,000 USD.
• This role is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with The NewsGuild of New York, CWA Local 31003, AFL-CIO.
• Position is benefits-eligible.
