Executive Creative Director

About the role

Vox Media Group is seeking an Executive Creative Director to define the creative direction for branded content across New York Magazine and Vox. This role requires a video-first leader who can mentor a team of creative directors and writers while maintaining a hands-on approach to production.

What you'll do

• Shape the creative vision for branded content, focusing on The Cut, New York Magazine, and the Vox Explainer Studio.
• Lead and develop a layered creative organization, including video creative directors and writers.
• Oversee the entire content lifecycle, from initial concept and scriptwriting through production and final edit.
• Partner with the Director of Production to establish best practices for budgets, schedules, and on-set guidance.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Creative Strategy teams to develop client-facing materials such as decks, treatments, and campaign narratives.
• Expand the company network of directors, editors, animators, and DPs.
• Ensure all creative output maintains high aesthetic standards and aligns with the editorial voice of our brands.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of creative experience with a proven history of managing senior-level creative teams.
• Extensive background in video production, including hands-on experience directing projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in fashion, beauty, and luxury categories.
• Strong visual sensibility with the ability to provide actionable feedback on art direction and design.
• Ability to balance high-level creative strategy with the demands of day-to-day execution.
• Experience leading writers and ensuring quality across all written campaign deliverables.
